INTERNSHIPS HELD: Marketing & Communications Assistant, ASU Gammage

What attracted you to a career in media, public relations, and digital communications?

With public relations, I was attracted to designing unique campaigns that help a company or organization reach its audience in a creative, impactful way.

What’s your dream media job?

Ultimately, I want to work in strategic communications for a company that is making a positive impact within its community.

What’s the toughest lesson you’ve learned either in a class, at work, or on an internship?

The toughest lesson I learned was to be open to changing my future plans. I have changed my mind a dozen times, which worried me at first because so many people seemed to know exactly which career they wanted to pursue. However, every experience I had at Cronkite gave me insight into my ideal career and skills that are universally applicable.

How has the Cronkite School helped you in your career?

I feel fortunate that Cronkite gave me the opportunity to study as a journalist before learning about public relations. I think this is an amazing differentiator for the program, because it’s important to understand journalism to understand PR.

How do you show off your Sun Devil pride?

I’m proud of my time spent at ASU, and I love telling family and friends back home on the East Coast about it. I also get really excited when I have visitors from home and I can show them around the Downtown and Tempe campuses!

What’s your favorite thing to do in Arizona?

I went to Cottonwood last summer, and it was the cutest place! Lots of great food and little shops, and close enough to Sedona for some hiking!

How do you balance personal life and work?

I try to get outside in some way when work seems to take over the balance. Lately, it’s been a lot of ice cream and time by the pool.

If you could have dinner with any living person, who would it be and what would be the first question you’d ask?

I think I would have dinner with Tom Brady and ask when we’re going to see a seventh ring (with the help of N’Keal Harry, of course)
